Does Hypnotherapy Really Help With Depression?

By Yoshie Chihara-want

One of the most difficult things to combat is the unknown. Whether it is an individual or a country at large, not knowing a cause of negativity is by far worse. The reason is because what is unknown is very difficult to change sometimes even impossible. While there are a number of reasons for depression, most stem from the individuals feelings of loss or negative thoughts. Where these come from are sometimes easy to determine, but most often are caused from years of pent up anger and frustration. Read on to learn how hypnotherapy can change sad feelings to positive ones.

Though hypnotherapy is not a cure all or miracle it is very effective at changing an individual's feelings and behavior. How we as people feel about particular events or situations can lead us to either a happy feeling or sad ones. Over the years of all these feelings sometimes the negative stack up and end up "de-pressing" the individual. This is often a sign that the individual is not effectively dealing with issues that are happening, therefore committing them to the unconscious mind. As humans this is normal, but it can cause depression, stress and added stress that can lead to a life of unhappiness as well as health problems.

Hypnotherapy can assist the individual in finding the events, situations or sources of their depression. There may be more than one and in most cases there are several. It may have been the loss of someone that was loved or a bad break up with an ex-lover. Whatever the reason, these feelings need to be put into perspective to relive the depression or feelings of helplessness. By entering into the hypnotic session the person is able to safely explore the reserves and stores of the memory. After uncovering these memories they can then bring them into the light and deal with them effectively. After they are dealt with they are not forgotten, but simply placed in the proper perspective.

Finding the root of the depression is the most important step in treatment. Trying to change or correct what is unknown is next to impossible and hypnotherapy is the only way to access the stores of the brain. Now some might be concerned about bringing up a difficult event or situation and relieving it in their mind. That is the reason that a trained hypnotherapist is very important in the session. They are there to guide the situation and help the individual gain control of these feelings. Facing the situation and dealing with it is what it takes to remove the negativity. This relieves stress, frustration and anger that keep the person from living a fulfilling life.

Hypnotherapy can be used for depression at all stages. It is safe, effective and a proven method. Individuals that have undergone hypnotherapy report that they feel better, more in control and have a higher self esteem after leaving treatment. Gaining control and putting past events into their appropriate place in the mind is important to health and well being.
