Can you answer Macabre’s question about Depression?:
ok so one of my OCD things is im “afraid” of the floor, and im afraid of my pet cat cause im worried that she could have mites, or fleas, or dirt on her. anyway so i still pet her but i have to wash my hands afterwards. anyway i used to let her sleep in my bed with me…..but not anymore…do you have any tips on how i can overcome this and let her come in my room? any steps i can take?
dankstabang-nice try..i already know about those bugs, and i cant see them, and they have always been there so i am not bothered by them….and they are on everyone so no big deal

Depression Feedback: replace that OCD with a less disruptive OCD until you work them into something you can manage
Depression Feedback: Keep hand sanitizer by your bed so you can clean your hands after you touch her?
Also, if you haven’t done it in a while, have her brushed…that will get rid of dirt. Make sure you are giving her biospot or some other anti-flea treatment. I am NOT a big fan of dirt of fleas myself, it makes me real sick to my stomach and all twitchy and stuff, but my puppy sleeps in my bed all the time because we keep her pretty clean. If your cat is in indoor cat, that would probably help you too.
Good luck!!! =)
Depression Feedback: How about I get you over your fear of the cat by putting a greater fear into you?
These are microscopic bugs that are crawling all over your clothes and skin and house right now. They eat dust, and your dead skin. You cannot make them go away. Deal with it or lose your sanity.
Depression Feedback: well i know of that condition and you have to Sike your brain out and take your thoughts to a happy place. It doesn’t happen overnight but you have to take it one day at a time. Give her a flea bath buy her a flea collar and always where house shoes when you step on the floor so your feet wont get dirty. Good Luck
Depression Feedback: Shave the cat and give her baths all the time. I think she will love it.
Depression Feedback: If it takes up more than an hour, daily, gets worse, or interferes with your life to any great degree; seek therapy, because it can quickly take over a person’s life. See section 7, on OCD, at ezy build, below and also view section 6, (page N first) since some mental health professionals consider it to be an anxiety related disorder - personally, I believe it may be a way of avoiding, or reducing anxiety/fear. View: CONFRONTING YOUR FEARS, and page N, in section 6. Ask yourself when you first started developing OCD tendencies, and what happened, around that time. You didn’t have the therapies and techniques available to you then, that are available to you, now. If you are aware of the cause, you can use EMDR therapy (see sections 33 - 34, with therapist locator) to address it. If you aren’t aware of the cause, you can try asking for an answer in your dreams. Your subconscious mind certainly hasn’t forgotten that cause, but may currently be shielding you from it, by not allowing you to remember, and instead, forcing you to adopt your obsessive behavio(u)r.
Write down 3 times, before going to sleep: “Tonight, in my dreams, I want to remember seeing what my fear is, when I get up”, and put it under your pillow. Then say it aloud 3 times, after lights out. It is important to summon as much desire as you are capable of, to more effectively communicate this to your subconscious mind. If this works, it should produce a response within 2 weeks; if not, you may not be remembering, so set an alarm to go off after, first, 3 hrs; next night 4; next night 5: have a pen & paper handy, and WRITE DOWN THOSE DREAMS!!! or, chances are, you will forget. Remember, the response may be metaphorical (figurative), rather than literal. There is a section on dream interpretation in the Social Science section, here at Y!A, where you will receive other interpretations (mine are based largely on the work of the psychologist, Fritz Perls; others vary; some are mystical mumbo jumbo). View DREAM INTERPRETATION, in section 3, at ezy build, if interested.
Although I am much better at interpreting the dreams of males, I have had some success with those of females. Feel free to email me, by clicking on my profile; all I can do is offer my interpretation, but the dreamer is always the ultimate judge of the true meaning of any dream. Alternatively (and not for free) you could try NeuroLinguistic Programming, (Google: “NLP” & see Wikipedia.org), or professional hypnotherapy, if you are fairly suggestible, as are around 40% of people. Practice one of the relaxation methods on pages 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed. Also, give the EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you. There is also a version for use in public places, (if you like, you can claim to have a headache, as you massage/lightly tap your temples). “Even though I suffer from OCD, I deeply and completely accept myself.” Section 53, and pages 2, 2.q and 2.o at also refer. One method you can try is by replacing your OCD behavio(u)r with the EFT. it takes about 30 - 40 repetitions, for most people to instill a new habit.
Depression Feedback: If it gets to be something that you can’t stand, and are extremely fearful of, you might want to talk to your parents about it. If not them, a friend who is serious about it, or a counselor/therapist/psychiatrist.
I have a fear of being sexually abused by every creepy old guy I see. It’s gotten to a point where I don’t want to be touched by my family (even the girls). It’s not that I distance myself, but I don’t want those thoughts of possible rape flooding my mind. I can’t be touched by guys that I don’t approve. Like I have guy friends, like this guy Carlos, he jokingly tries to sit on me at lunch. I allow that, because I know what he’s doing. But if I don’t know what they’re up to… I don’t allow it.
Anyway, back to you. If it becomes something, that you feel you can’t get control over, talk to someone and seek help if it becomes really serious.
