Anxiety/depression?

Can you answer JaggedLittlePill’s question about Depression?:

I’m only 15.. currently taking Metronidazole. I spoke to my doctor 2 days ago about some dizziness/nausea side effects.. which were normal. But now 4 days into the pill i’m feeling pretty bad anxiety/depression symptoms. Are these also side effects of the pill? If you’ve taken it.. have you experienced this? Any answers appreciated! Thanks!

Depression Feedback: You should discuss these symptoms with your doctor. some medications do cause these symptoms and it goes away but you shouldn’t risk it. Call your doctor immediately because it is the only solution. Good luck.

Depression Feedback: Perhaps you are having some bad feelings related to why you are taking this medication. This is an antibiotic that should cause no depression or anxiety.

Depression Feedback: They could be side effects of it, I’ve never taken that one in particular but I’d keep an eye on it. I’ve been on a few meds that made me A LOT worse that when I was. If it hasn’t let up or you start to really worry don’t hesitate to call your doctor. If you let it go to far it’ll only get worse. Keep your head up.

Depression Feedback: Joy was right. I gave a completely wrong answer. I assumed it was an anti-depressant but now obviously i see it was an antibiotic. sorry about that. my only advise is to ask the doctor. I looked it up and i didn’t see depression listed as one of the side effects, but who knows.

Depression Feedback: Metronidazole is not an antidepressant, may i please request the previous advisor to be careful when giving suggestions. It is also sold under the brand name of Flagyl., mainly used to treat bacteria/protozoa.
Dear JaggedLi-If you will read the medicine’s literature-there will be no mention of anxiety or depression as an adverse effect. The nausea should wear out-which is triggering your body and mind to a discomforting level. If not-have him switch your medication.
Your age tells me that you may be undergoing hormonal changes-that too sometimes gives rise to depression-so that’s phasal. Talk to a family member. If your depression prolongs, do seek therapy.
